On July 21st at 6pm, Zombie Squad will be hosting a Disaster Awareness Fair in the south parking lot of Schlafly Tap Room and Brewery @ 2100 Locust Street (at 21st) in St. Louis, MO.
This Disaster Awareness Fair will be in observation of the storms last summer that tore through St. Louis on July 19 and left over 500,000 people without power, many for a week or more on the hottest days of
the year. Another storm hit St. Louis again on December 1st with similar devastation of local utilities. The goal of this fair is to promote the importance of being prepared for disasters like what happened in St. Louis last year and to bring local disaster agencies together.
Representatives from a number of local disaster response agencies such at the Red Cross Disaster Services, CERT, Red Cross Blood Services, St. Louis ARES, CEMA and others will have an information booths at the event; others will have guest speakers to talk about their agency, what they do for the community, and what others can do to be prepared for disasters.
Throughout the evening we will be raffling out cool stuff provided by local businesses like REI as well some new merchandise from Zombie Squad. You get one ticket for every 5 cans of food (or $3). Food will be donated to Feed My People.
Later in the evening we will be playing Mad Max:Beyond Thunderdome and Shaun of the Dead as well as Zombie Squad PSAs and other video shorts projected onto a 20+ foot movie screen provided by Frontyard Features! The videos are planned to start around 8:30pm or whenever it gets dark enough.
Oh yeah.. and Schlafly will be providing a beer truck.
The event will be organized and hosted by your friendly neighborhood Zombie Squad and sponsored by Schlafly Beer, REI, Frontyard Features, Cheap Trx, St. Louis Poker Pub, Live Wire.
