Due to the high expense of paper in the 1800's and earlier, the "end pages" of books were frequently used as notepads. Photographer Zeva Oelbaum manipulates images from her family's old books as well as from Jewish libraries and archives, transforming markings written in multiple languages into an immortalization of the inherent visual lyricism in words and scribbles.
