An advance Preview of the 2008 Griffin Poetry Prize short list. If there was such a thing as an acme of poetic achievement, all four of these writers would be coasting downhill, as they would have all quite ably crested it. Fortunately, none of them are known as writers who will settle back into a comfy barcalounger and rest on their laurels. For every Alp there is a Himalaya, for every Lindenburgh there is a Neil Armstrong, for every Babe Ruth there is a Hank Aaron. I am very serious about the Griffin prize thing.
