Japanese sculptor Yoshihiro Suda carves delicate plants from magnolia wood before hand-painting them with traditional Japanese pigments to produce hyper-realistic replicas of common plants and flowers. The artist calibrates the installation of his sculptures to engage out-of-the-way spaces and his work finds meaning in the encounters among object, environment, his sculpture and the viewer. "The space around [my sculptures] is also part of the work," Suda says.
