Yolotecuani or "Tiger Heart" is the premiere Mexican Son ensemble from the state of Guerrero coming to the Old Town School for their first Chicago performance. Founded in 1986 in the small town of Tixtla, Yolotecuani specializes in fandango music and dance centered around the "Tarima" or wooden platform and features the guitar, vihuela, contrabass, cajon and harp. Pre-Hispanic, Christian and African traditions have all melded together to form this unique style of Mexican son from Guerrero.
