many gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people are told that we must choose between our true nature and expressing our spirituality. the days of having to live in a closet in order to be spiritual and religious are passing, but much of the programming that came with generations of oppression can be carried with us and cause suffering for ourselves and our community. the only way to heal the scars of past oppression is to look directly at them with eyes of compassion and forgiveness.

yoga is a powerful tool that can help us to celebrate the body and the spirit while at the same time healing old programming. in this workshop we will be exploring what it means to be queer. using yoga poses, breathing techniques and meditation in the safety of a supportive group of other queer people we will learn to move beyond the lies of the past and into the expanded freedom for which we were created. most importantly we will discuss ways of offering that freedom to others in our community!
