YMM Orchestra Rehearsals September 21, 2011

Join a great, local youth orchestra for young, aspiring musicians!

The Junior Youth Orchestra, for students age 7 and older, rehearse from 4:30 to 6:00 pm on Wednesdays, throughout the school year at Monterey High School located at 700 Pacific Street in Monterey beginning Wednesday, September 7th, 2011. The Junior Youth Orchestra will perform the first concert of the season on Saturday, November 5th at 2:00 pm at the Sunset Center in Carmel with “Dance Kids of Monterey County” including scenes from Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Suite.

The Honors Orchestra plays full symphonic scores and is open to students up to the age of 20 and also rehearses on Wednesdays from 6:45 to 8:30 pm at Monterey High. The Honors Orchestra perform their first concert of the season side-by-side the Monterey Symphony with Maestro Max Bragado-Darman on Saturday, November 19, 2011. This opportunity will include musical training from symphony musicians at an all-day retreat on Saturday, October 15th at Hidden Valley Music Seminars in Carmel Valley.

A Chamber Players program is open for all Honors Orchestra members seeking additional music experiences and performance opportunities in small, group ensembles and led by chamber music director Erica Horn. Special guests and opportunities include coaching with Conductors Stewart Robertson and Jung-Ho Pak and a SUMMER 2012 CHAMBER MUSIC WORKSHOP led by the Baumer String Quartet (June 9-17, 2012).

Tuition is $700 for the entire 2011-12 season. Scholarships are available for the application fee and tuition to those that apply and qualify. Carpools can be arranged.
