join danielle for a deeper exploration of yin yoga. today most forms of yoga are "yang" in nature—they emphasize muscular movement and contraction. by contrast, yin yoga targets the deep, dense connective tissues of the body—tissues that are more challenging to energize and open. by targeting the connective tissue of the body, yin postures help the body remain supple at its core while encouraging stagnant ch’i (prana) to flow through the body’s “energetic highways,” or meridians, thus enhancing the health of the joints and organs. in addition, yin yoga assists us in cultivating a sensitivity to the energy body, while simultaneously working to rebalance the same. cost: $50.
each session of this two-part series will include: a discussion of ch’i theory and the energy body; an overview of the meridian/organ systems and different yin postures and sequencing options to target them; options for therapeutic modifications of the asanas; and an exploration of using yin yoga as a means of cultivating mindful awareness, both on and off the yoga mat.
