Yes! In My Backyard Lecture Series is an exciting, out-of-the-classroom learning experience for students and educators. The FREE lecture will cover the emergence of the urban park movement in the United States and the importance of Frederick Law Olmsted and Essex County Branch Brook Park. It will be held as follows:

Neil M. Maher, a renowned professor of environmental and political history at the New Jersey Institute of Technology and Rutgers University-Newark, will guide listeners through the creation of Essex County Branch Brook Park, which was designed over a century ago.

The Yes! In My Backyard Lecture Series is presented free of charge through funding from the Essex County Local History Grant Program and the New Jersey Council for the Humanities.

The lecture will be held at the Cherry Blossom Visitors Center is located near the Mill Street entrance.
