Yellowcake CD Release November 21, 2006

with Gino Robair/Wade Matthews duo

Yellowcake is a trio featuring Jacob Lindsay (clarinets), Scott Looney (laptop/piano), and Gino Robair (drums/analog synth), works with free improvisation to create an ensemble sound where it’s difficult to tell what the sound sources are. Often, the common roles of each instrument — drums, electronics, contrabass clarinet — are reversed, so that Looney and Lindsay take a percussive role, while Robair plays sustained sounds and phrases. Their new, self-titled release was recorded live in 2005 and showcases the group’s subtle use of timbre and rhythm.
