Yellow Springs Farm will have its Fall Native Plant Sale and Open House on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, September 11th thru 13th, 2009. Friday hours are from 12 noon to 7 pm, and Sat/Sun from 10 am to 4 pm. The Farm is located at 1165 Yellow Springs Rd., Chester Springs, PA

The Open House includes many Fall bloomers, plus hundreds of native perennial plants, ferns, grasses, and woody shrubs and trees. Our featured wildflower is the stunning, cobalt blue fall bloomer, Bottle Gentian (Gentiana clausa) It is typically found in partially shaded areas such as moist woods and thickets.

In keeping with a desire to promote land stewardship and agriculture, our Farm’s raw, natural wildflower honey, harvested Summer 2009, will be offered for sale and tasting. In addition, our growing herd of Nubian dairy goats can be viewed in the front meadow adjacent to the parking area. Our goats love visitors, and are perfect for converting invasive plants into healthy milk.

Yellow Springs Farm Native Plants Nursery, once a much larger 19th-century dairy farm, is protected by a perpetual conservation easement. Visitors are welcome to see our landscape restoration in progress in woodland, wetland and meadow areas. Our ongoing efforts to control invasive species and repopulate native plants are especially evident now in the woodland. We are glad to share our project and help others learn how to be better stewards of their own property, large or small.

There is no charge for admission to these events, and all will take place rain or shine.
