As part of the build up to Armed Forces day which takes place in June annually, all local authorities are invited by the Ministry of Defence to take part in a national 'Fly a Flag' campaign.

Wyre Forest will join in simultaneously with the Flag Raising Ceremony nationally, at 10.30am on the Monday 24th June 2013 outside Kidderminster Town Hall. Armed Forces Day takes place on 29th June 2013. The flag is kept flying until the day after Armed Forces Day.

We urge Wyre Forest residents and local Armed Forces representatives to come to the flag raising ceremony and if appropriate to wear their full military regalia, berets, blazers or uniform to mark the occasion. Guests and local Armed Forces representatives will be invited to arrive around 10.00am where they will be met by an Officer from Wyre Forest District Council. The Armed Forces Representatives will gather in the courtyard of the town hall where a Parade Marshall will lead them through the arch and onto the raised platform outside the Kidderminster Hub, where the flag will be raised following a speech by the Chairman of Wyre Forest District Council and Prayers by a local Vicar. The flag will be raised simultaneously nationally at 10.30am. After, Primary Schools will perform songs for the crowds.

Wyre Forest District Council is one of hundreds of councils across the country taking part in these events. For more information visit www.armedforcesday.org.uk
