It’s not quite Mother’s Day yet, but it is time to celebrate one very important mother: Mother Earth. Our planet is a beautiful gift, and therefore it’s up to us to keep it clean and healthy. The concept of “Going Green” is becoming more prominent, and has aided our community to take actions to preserve the Earth. On March 5, 2009, WVSA’s “Going Green” exhibit will focus on the environment and the importance of living a greener life.

The ARTicualte Employment Training and Outreach is where our Artist Apprentices get an opportunity to express themselves through the arts. Those who participate in the program receive supplemental education services that provide school to community transitional services.

The ARTiculate Gallery is a contemporary art gallery that showcases the works of the artists at WVSA. The gallery is a unique and accessible downtown venue, providing creative environments, opportunities, and experiences to connect WVSA Artist Apprentices to the local DC art community.

The Gallery and Artist Reception will take place from 5:30-7:30pm on Thursday March 5, and will include live entertainment, an open bar, and fantastic artwork. All artwork will be available for post-event viewing and purchase. WVSA is located at the corner of 16th and L Street NW, and the gallery is open Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. -- 6 p.m. For more information, visit www.wvsarts.org.
