Adapted from his own play, Tales of Common Insanity, this is Zelenka’s most straight-forward film since Buttoners. Nominally about an airport worker pining for his ex-girlfriend while his parents’ relationship dissolves, the film is an excuse to showcase numerous set-pieces of everyday craziness, executed with the pathos and humanity of a silent film.
