Toy Box's adaptation is set in a small Midwestern town in the midst of winter and at the depths of the current recession. Woyzeck scrounges for work, battles with paranoia, drinks his breakfast, and struggles to provide the bare essentials for his family. Ultimately, Woyzeck watches his dignity and sanity slip away as he wrestles with the painful realities of life.

Colonna Sonora, 2010 New York Innovative Theatre Awards nominee for best original music, will provide a live acoustic score, and members of the critically acclaimed production team of Toy Box's 2009 'Tis Pity She's a Whore return to bring this multidisciplinary work to life.

Opening Friday, October 22, Woyzeck will run for 13 performances at the Choicirciati Cultural Center located on the Fourth Arts Block (64. E. 4th St.), closing on Friday, November 12. The performances on October 22, 23, 29, 30 and November 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11 and 12 will be 8 p.m., and performances on October 24 and October 31 will be at 3 p.m. and will be followed by a champagne toast and talk-back with the director, musicians, cast, and crew. Tickets are $18 and can be reserved at toyboxtheatre.org.
