CANTECA DE MACAO
Spain
Flamenco gone Caribbean

Monday, September 24, 9.00 p.m.

Chicago, IL 60654

For around a decade, Spain’s Canteca de Macao has embraced flamenco as both an anchor and jumping off point for broader musical exploration. That entails an exhilarating combination of styles as diverse as jazz and ska, performed with the confidence and enthusiasm of musicians who understand that what they’re doing is both playfully boundary-pushing and a total blast. It’s an instant party that espouses a contemporary collision of geography and genre, with a combination of energy, enthusiasm and ample ideas—a polyglot bounty that revels in possibility as it excels in performance.
