The World Library and Information Congress 2009, 75th IFLA General Conference and Assembly, will take place in Milan from 23 to 27 August at the Milano Convention Centre (MIC). IFLA (The International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions), which represents the interests of library and information services and has got now 1600 Members in approximately 150 countries around the world, chose Milan for the 75th Conference thanks also to the support from Regione Lombardia.

Libraries create futures: building on cultural heritage, the theme of the IFLA 2009 Congress, seems to be especially suitable to Milan owing to its richness of ancient libraries (Biblioteca Ambrosiana http://www.ambrosiana.eu/index.asp, Biblioteca Nazionale Braidense http://www.braidense.it/index/index.php, Biblioteca Trivulziana and many others).
