To welcome the World Harmony Runners, Bay Area celebs and artists, including triple Grammy-winning record producer Narada Michael Walden, Lavay Smith, Merch and others, are joining and jamming in Union Square. Welcome the World Harmony Runners. They've covered about 4,400 miles to get here and they've got about 6,000 to go to finish in August. So come out to Union Square and hold the Torch!

WHR is a Torch running relay that seeks to promote the values of friendship and understanding as we run and pass a flaming torch from hand to hand. Runners share the Torch with 100,000 youth and families along the route. In many ways, this unique work helps kids grow up to be good citizens of their communities and the world.

Past participants have included spiritual leaders like Mother Teresa, Heads of State such as President Mikhail Gorbachev and President Nelson Mandela, Olympic athletes like Carl Lewis, musicians like Sir Paul McCartney, Narada Michael Walden, Whitney Houston, Clarence Clemons, Grace Slick, Nobel Laureates and professors, community leaders and thousands of others who have taken a step for peace.

The World Harmony Run was founded in 1987 by spiritual leader Sri Chinmoy.
