Pázmány Péter sétány 1/A.

Dear Colleague,

It is my great pleasure to invite you to participate at this Congress. This meeting is the sequel of the highly successful 1997 World Congress of Stress which had more than 800 participants and led to the establishment of Cell Stress Society International. The meeting will be the 3rd Congress of this Society. We are organizing the Congress with the following aims:

  • help to strengthen the membership and ties of Cell Stress Society;

  • help to establish unusual links between various fields of stress research;

  • give special opportunities for young and women scientists;

  • show that Science is Fun;

  • and last but not least: to celebrate the centennial birth anniversary of Hans Selye, the founder of the stress concept, who was born in Hungary in 1907, and to give a taste from the thousand years old history of Hungary and Hungarian science.

The congress will introduce the stress concept in the original Hans Selye’s sense, and will have a core of the first two days for molecular stress, which will be surrounded by a halo of other congress-modules for various topics of stress research. Importantly, the congress will show the necessity and means for the system-level understanding of the individual molecular data.

Hungary, a member of the European Union, will be your proud host in its historical capital, Budapest, with a tradition of memorable hospitality. The event will be a conference for your creativity, offering – in addition to a high level scientific meeting – a lot of unusual events to show that Science is Fun. We are excited to have You as our Partner in this endeavour.

Prof. Peter Csermely
President of Cell Stress Society International
Chairman of the Organizing Committee
