Breakin' is an indigenous American folk dance that surfaced in the 1960s in primarily urban environments as a social dance. It gained worldwide appeal in the 1980s as a core element of hip-hop culture. Utilizing a technique of extraction and compounding developed by oLive's co-founder Raphael Xavier, this workshop attempts to codify a highly technical dance form by training participants in strength building and the basic building blocks of the movement. This approach is beneficial for dancers with all levels of experience in this technique - from beginner to advanced.
