The University of Salford invites you to attend a one-day workshop on grammaticalisation in Semitic to be held on 6th May 2011.

Since 2007 an international network of researchers working on ancient and modern Semitic languages has organised annual workshops on aspects of the syntax of Semitic languages at the University of Salford.

These workshops have covered: Relative clauses and attribution; Genitive constructions; and Deixis and definiteness. In the workshops aspects of the following language/families are covered: Arabic, Hebrew, Neo-Aramaic, Ancient and Modern South Arabian and Ethio-Semitic.

The speakers in May 2011 will include: Aaron Rubin (Pennsylvania State University), Geoffrey Khan (University of Cambridge), Christopher Lucas (SOAS), Jan Retsö (Gothenburg University), Domenyk Eades (University of Salford), Yaron Matras (University of Manchester), Jamal Ouhalla (University College Dublin) and Samia Naïm (CNRS, LACITO).
