In this workshop, participants will learn basic to intermediate-level video editing techniques using open source tools VirtualDub and AviSynth. The workshop will include:

* A short history of mashups and film theory
* A viewing of artists’ mashups
* A walk-through of the process of mashing up video
* Collaborative distributed video editing
* The creation of a larger video work consisting of smaller mash-ups

Participants are strongly encouraged to bring a Windows laptop (VirtualDub and AviSynth are not available for the Mac at this time). We will have at least one available laptop.
