Workforce planning has been an evolutionary process. From an original focus on short-term staffing requirements, organizations began to project further ahead in their workforce needs, but still in a very operational way, Recent HCI research found that only 56% are actively planning in some way for tomorrow's labor force. Yet momentum is growing, 36% of the total companies surveyed indicate that they will begin considering more proactive planning of their labor even with the current economic challenges. However, while workforce planning has evolved from the demand-driven personnel planning of yesteryear, HR teams are now truly embracing and implementing strategic workforce planning to gain competitive strength in the marketplace.

HCI's Workforce Planning Conference will bring together the best and brightest in strategic workforce planning to share their strategies, detail implementations that work, and how they successfully combined the use of technology with disciplined business processes and practices to create high-impact results. The conference will lead off with new research findings on Identifying Business Value in Workforce Planning followed by learning sessions delivered by executives from Wolters Kluwer, Aetna, HodesIQ, Starbucks, and more.
