The L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center’s Advocate & Gochis Galleries have taken the lead in providing interactive art experiences at openings, as well as incisive, original works of art. The newest exhibit, Work in Progress, culminates with a free reception, where attendees may create their own drawings from live nude models. The free reception will take place at the galleries on Thursday, Oct. 20 from 7-9 p.m.

Work in Progress develops and expands each week as 10 aspiring artists, enrolled in the Life Drawing class of the Center’s Learning Curve program, work with nude models in the galleries’ main space (discreetly shielded from public view).

The class culminates with a wine and cheese reception, where guests will meet the featured artists and the models--and may also try their hand at creating artworks of their own by drawing live nude models (male and female) during the event. The work created by guests will be added to this one-of-a-kind exhibit, where it will be on view through Tuesday, Nov. 3. Guests can also observe a live art installation during the reception.
