Renowned pianist and recording artist Wonmi Kim will perform a premiere recital at Yamaha's midtown Piano Salon on Friday, October 12. Her recital program will include works such as:

- Mendelssohn: Songs without words
- Schumann: Intermezzi, Op. 4
- Rachmaninoff: Sonata No.1 in D minor, Op. 28

Wonmi Kim, a Korean native, began her piano studies at the age of four and made her first public performance that same year. During her career as a youth, she performed on more than 50 concert stages throughout cities in Asia, Africa and America. Kim is a graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music, where she studied with Jorge Bolet, and was the recipient of the Rachmaninoff Prize. In 1986, she was the winner of the 3rd International Liszt Competition, and was a prizewinner in the International Busoni Competition in 1988. Her solo recording, “The Art of Transcription,” won a European Music Award.

Kim has appeared in many major music festivals and concert series including Asolo (Italy), Bordeaux (France), Hitzaker (Germany), Geneve (Switzerland), Yehudi Menuhin School (England) and Monte Carlo (Monaco). She is also an active chamber musician, performing with musicians of the Moscow Virtuosi, Curtis String Quartet and many other world renowned musicians. Her performances have been broadcast on radio and television stations such as CBS, NHK, DDR, Dutch Radio, KBS and Chinese Radio.
