Andrea Arroyo, a Women's eNews Leader for the 21st Century, will be showing a selection of work from her ongoing project "Flor de Tierra" ("Flower of the Earth"), A Homage to the Women of Juarez at the Women’s eNews office in Manhattan.

The pastel on paper drawings look to commemorate the women of Juarez, the border city in Mexico where more than 400 women have gone missing or been killed in the past 15 years, many of the victims abandoned in the desert or buried in shallow graves.

"I was appalled by the number of women who have been killed or missing and by the fact that the authorities have not taken proper measures to investigate or stop these crimes," says Arroyo.

At the reception, May 17th, guests will be able to meet the artist and see a selection of the 230 completed pastel artworks created to honor the lives of the women of Juarez.
