Each month at the WBE Breakfast we have an inspirational speaker. Our speaker for November 2011 is:

Beverly Wyse, Vice President & General Manager, 737 Program,
Boeing Commercial Airplanes - The Sky is No Limit!

When you work with people who dream about removing the boundaries of gravity and going beyond the speed of sound, you learn to look differently at the limitations we place on ourselves, whether in our professional or personal lives. Which, if any, of those barriers deserve the credit we give them? How can we recognize the barriers that we have created for ourselves-barriers actually often constructed with great care and in the name of loving and protecting ourselves. Do we also help contribute to the barriers those around us create? Where could we be if we removed the barriers? Are you willing to go on that ride? What if the sky is in fact, no limit?

Beverly will talk about starting her career as an engineer and the journey to becoming the leader of Boeing's largest, most successful commercial airplane program, the 737. She'll talk about the role models who have opened her mind to what can be achieved, and the opportunity that we have to motivate the generation behind us.

Graduating from the University of Washington in Mechanical Engineering, Beverly Wyse began her career at Boeing in 1985 as an engineer. She left Boeing in 1989 to work for British Aerospace in Hatfield, England. In 1992 she and her husband, Steve and their then one-year-old son returned to Seattle where Beverly re-joined Boeing to support development of the 777 program.

Subsequent responsibilities and achievement included: program management, an MBA, a stint in a Boeing start-up, leading the 767 program through the USAF Tanker campaign, to leading the 737 airplane program and the Renton site.
