On May 21, 2009 Hillside House will host its 6th annual Women of Purpose luncheon, a benefit for the residents of Hillside House. Each year we invite an inspirational speaker who has overcome significant obstacles to lead a full life and make a contribution to our society. At the luncheon we also make an award the Person of Purpose Award to someone in the greater Santa Barbara area whose contribution has been an inspiration to our local community. The luncheon is held in the beautiful gardens of El Mirador Estate in Montecito.
In 2009, we will feature singer-songwriter and inspirational speaker Bree Noble. She has been legally blind since birth, and lost all sight in her right eye due to a failed operation when she was in high school. Nonetheless, she graduated at the top of her class and went on to earn degrees in Vocal Performance and Business at Westmont College in Santa Barbara. She served as the Director of Finance at an opera company from 1999 to 2004, and then switched to working there as a part-time consultant in order to have more time to raise her daughter.
In 2002, she released her first solo album, Overwhelmed. She has gone on to release 2 more solo CDs since then, the latest being Healing Waters. Her music is a blend of Contemporary and Inspirational music. She writes about her own Christian faith and how it has helped her to face the obstacles she has overcome, and she also writes about problems and experiences that are universal.
In 2006 Bree began presenting You Are My Vision, a narrative and musical journey through her life growing up visually impaired. With this presentation, Bree strives to inspire and encourage audiences to trust God in all things and to lean on Him in times of struggle.
In January 2007, Bree Noble was named Best Female Performer at the Inland Empire Music Awards in Southern California. In July 2006 Bree was honored to perform the national anthem in front of a sold out crowd at Dodger Stadium. When she is not ministering to other congregations, Bree serves as worship leader at Glendora United Methodist Church. If you would like more information or would like to receive a mailed invitation to the 2009 Women of Purpose luncheon please call or e-mail Curt Lauber in the Hillside House Development Office: [email protected] or (805) 687-0788 ext. 15.We would be delighted to share this special occasion with you.
