900 Rampart St.
New Orleans, Louisiana

Chef Tom Wolfe will host Wolfe's Restaurant Rowe Block Party on North Rampart Street from 12:00 to 6:00 p.m. to benefit the Children's Hospital of New Orleans. The block party, held on the 900 Block of North Rampart Street in front of Wolfe's restaurant, will feature activities for the whole family including music, two "Iron Chef"-style competitions, face painting, obstacle courses, children's cooking classes and more.
"I wanted to create a day for the whole family," says Event Director Chef Wolfe. "I think the block party will capture that this year."
The two Iron Chef competitions will feature a professional challenge and an amateur challenge. Chef Brian Landry, executive chef of Galatoire's, and Chef Justin Devillier, executive chef of La Petite Grocery, will battle head-to-head with their two person crew to prepare the most flavorful dishes prepared with a secret ingredient provided by New Orleans Fish House and Tabasco sauce. The amateur challenge will combine three non-professional chefs to make up a team. The two teams will go on to compete with a different secret ingredient.
Meanwhile in the kitchen at Wolfe's, children will cook up something of their own. They will learn how to make holiday cookies and will decorate their own to take home. The children's cooking classes will be held at 1:00 p.m., and 3:00 p.m. and tickets to join the class are $15. Tickets can be pre-purchased by calling 504.593.9535.
The event will run from 12:00 to 6:00 p.m. and feature food from several New Orleans' favorites, such as Galatoire's, Five Fifty-Five, Wolfe's, La Petite Grocery, La Cote Brasserie, Café Giovanni, and Wolfe's in the Warehouse. There will be no admission for the event and the proceeds from the day's activities will go on to benefit the Children's Hospital of New Orleans.
"I was diagnosed with diabetes at Children's Hospital when I was a child and I wanted to do something to help them continue to provide excellent care for the youth in New Orleans," says Chef Wolfe. "I think it's important for us as a community to give back to those who help us when we need it. I hope others agree and decide to bring their families and help support this great local cause."
