October 1st & 2nd, 11 a.m - 6 p.m. both days

What good is SF summer without the heat? Artist Wolf Gomez's 2011 new art work brings a splash of culture to San Francisco with vivid colors and a lively exploration of the "in between," individuals who embody ethnic and cultural fluidity. Photographed individuals are lifted out of their spontaneously captured moment in time at the festival of Trinidad carnival and painted into otherworldly elemental scapes. The artist highlights that hybrid space and hybrid self and allows the "in between" to emerge and be expressed on its own canvas in its own light.

Come see the hot new works of "A Living Ritual" series and meet the artist Wolf Gomez in her studio # 137 & 138 at Art Explosion, 2425 17th St. SF, CA 94114. As part of ArtSpan's Open Studio, the show opens to the public on October 1st & 2nd from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Take a sneak peek here: http://imagemind.net/Home.html

For some people, the thought of a tropical island conjures up images associated with the culture, like sun, sea and island rhythms. However, Caribbean-born Wolf Gomez's current body of work from the series "A Living Ritual 2011" draws attention to the complexities inherent in being part of the Afro and Indo-Caribbean Diaspora. As the face and process of migrating continue to change globally, individuals are developing strong transnational ties to more than one "home" country. A Living Ritual Series highlights the duality between transposed subjects and their unfurling new environments.
