Winter Park Sidewalk Art Festival March 19, 2009

WINTER PARK, Fla. a nationally recognized Silver Circle and National Merit Award winner (March 13, 2008) - The Winter Park Sidewalk Art Festival is one of the nation’s most prestigious outdoor art festivals, consistently rated among the top shows by Sunshine Artist and American Style magazines. Each year more than 350,000 visitors enjoy the show.

On Friday, March 20, through Sunday, March 22, 2009 over 225 national and international juried artists will exhibit original artwork along picturesque historic Park Avenue in Central Park. The event is free to the public with show hours being 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., on Friday and Saturday, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., on Sunday.

Awards will total $67,500 in prize money in 14 categories, including clay, digital art, drawing and graphics, fiber, glass, jewelry, leather, metal, mixed media, painting, photography, sculpture, watercolor and wood.

Entertainment will be provided by Smooth Jazz 103.1 WLOQ, Sonny Abelardo Productions and Holler Automotive Group. The schedule is of performers will be ready for release in January.

The festival also features the Emerging Artists program that showcases new artists’ creative and cutting-edge work and a Children’s Workshop Village that offers hands on activities for children from two to 12 years of age. In addition to a variety of museums at the village, this exhibit will also feature artwork by Orange County public school children from grade school to high school.

REMEMBER! The festival is 50 Years old this year! There are many fun facts and stories that need to be told with archives of photos, original posters, and the art piece from the
Grand Prize winner from each year. These exhibits are found throughout the City of Winter Park….at the Winter Park Library, Winter Park Historical Center and other key locations.
