EVERY MONDAY
Wing Chun is a Chinese martial art based on the yin/ yang and Taoism whose techniques emphasize practicality and efficiency to maintain its ideals on effectiveness. Training in Wing Chun aims at becoming one with the ever-expanding awareness of what is.

In it you will find all the tools to be successful in self- defense and meditation, and all around good health and fitness. As you progress though your development in Wing Chun you will learn sense perception as well as physical perception. As you simplify your movement more and more you return to the "state of Wu Wei".

Wu Wei means "non action"- spontaneity and emptiness of cosmic mind. Wu Wei is a central concept in Taoism, meaning "action with out action" or effortless doing. The goal is to align Wu Wei with the Tao, revealing the soft "yin" and the unseen power with all things, "yang".

Efficiency in Wing Chun is based on the concept that the shortest distance between two points is a straight line. Likewise its primary targets all lie along the "centerline" of one's opponent.

Van Green, a Middletown resident, has studied Oriental Arts and Sciences for over 14 yrs. He studied under Dr. Daniel K. Pai (founder of Pai-lum Kung-Fu) who was one of Bruce Lee's teachers in the 60's.

Loose clothing is recommended. Bring a mat if you wish for the meditation part of this class. Participation is at the discretion of the instructor.
