Wine Aroma Workshop and Gourmet Lunch Tasting at a Virginia Winery May 9, 2009

GiraMondo Wine Adventures offers wine enthusiasts the opportunity participate in a unique wine aroma workshop followed by a Virginia Wine Tasting lunch. Chateau O'Brien in Markham invites you to a Gourmet Tasting Lunch with all organic wines. Our wine workshop and lunch experience starts at 11:30am and goes until 1:30pm, after which you can still tour the winery and enjoy the beautiful grounds.

Chateau O’Brien vineyard is currently 15 acres with a planned expansion to 25 acres. The rootstock was imported from France and grafted with American rootstock. The vines were hand selected for intensity of flavor and true varietal character and are nurtured through organic / biodynamic agriculture. The winery and vineyard opened for full operation on November 1, 2006.

The wine aroma workshop will focus on the following questions: where do wine aromas come from, how are these aromas categorized and how to identify / recognize them.

The tasting lunch menu will be served buffet style and paired with the winery wines:

• Cedar plank seared salmon roulades with caramelized butternut squash


• Baked brie wrapped in filo dough with date jam


• Braised beef


• Dessert
