The City of North Charleston and Mayor R. Keith Summey will host a dedication of the Windsor Hill Plantation State of South Carolina Historical Marker on Monday, September 27, at 10am. The unveiling of the marker will take place at the corner of Ashley Phosphate Road and Windsor Hill Boulevard. A light reception will immediately follow the ceremony at Cathedral of Praise, 3790 Ashley Phosphate Road. The public is welcome to attend.

A color guard will be provided by the Washington Light Infantry. Members of the Sons of the American Revolution Moultrie Chapter will be present at the ceremony. Special guest, Goose Creek Mayor Michael Heitzler, will provide a brief historical overview and multi-media presentation during the reception.
Windsor Hill Plantation, an inland rice plantation, was established in 1701. General William Moultrie, victor at the Battle of Sullivan's Island in 1776 and governor 1785-1787 and 1792-94, was first buried here but reburied on Sullivan's Island, at Fort Moultrie, in 1977. The dedication of the marker coincides with the anniversary of General Moultrie's death in 1805.
