National Book Award winner WILLIAM T. VOLLMANN
reading & book signing for "Uncentering the Earth"
Tuesday, March 14th at 7 pm

"Uncentering the Earth: Copernicus and The Revolutions of the Heavenly
Spheres," is William T. Vollmann's gloss on the writings of the Polish
astronomer. In this new book, the National Book Award winner provides an
explication not only of Copernicus' revolutionary work, but also of
Copernicus' epoch, and the momentous clash between science and the church.

William T. Vollmann is the author of several works of fiction and
non-fiction, including "Rising Up and Rising Down," a finalist for the 2003
National Book Critics Circle Award, and "Europe Central," which won the
2005 National Book Award. No other writer has appeared more often at The
Booksmith as has this acclaimed California author.
