William J Collins Photography: the Vanishing West, the Developing West February 12, 2009

At age 19 William J. Collins established himself as a photographer by setting up a studio in the South Dakota Territory. After 47 years of shooting he had recorded the growing towns, ranchers, farmers, miners, lumber workers and Native Americans.
