William Gottlieb: Portraits From the Golden Age of Jazz January 19, 2011

During the '30s and '40s, magazine columnist WIlliam Gottlieb shot his own photographs of the jazz artists he was writing about. His negatives were stored away until he retired in 1979, at which point he began printing them, eventually becoming one of the most honored jazz photographers of all time.
