See the U.S. premiere of this hybrid performance installation during the opening days of the exhibition William Forsythe: Transfigurations.

Dancer Alessio Silvestrin delivers a mesmerizing performance against a backdrop of sculptural elements created from life-size models of human skeletons and line drawings traced from these gnarled forms, which also serve as cues in the performer's score (the word "partitur" in the title is a reference to the musical scores utilized by orchestra conductors). Monster Partitur is a condensation of and companion to Forsythe's Bessie Award–winning You made me a monster.

Once the performance cycle is over, Monster Partitur will remain on view in Transfigurations as an installation work. The sculptural environment and Forsythe's riveting text, which introduces and underscores the work, create a charged space that evokes both presence and absence. Student volunteers from Ohio State's Department of Dance will work with members of the Forsythe Company during the company's residency to produce this installation.
