Join your peers for breakfast on October 14th for the second installment of the WTIA Urban Leadership Series:

Will Your Vote Count? An Update on E-Voting
Presented by Jim Adler, President & CTO at Identity.net, former CEO of VoteHere, Inc.

The US has not enjoyed a controversy-free presidential election since 1996. In 2000, for the first time in our history, the US Supreme Court intervened in a presidential election over seemingly trivial scraps of paper -- now infamous punch-card chads. In 2004, waiting lines of 12 hours and distrust in the accuracy of new electronic voting machines tainted election results in the decisive state of Ohio. Closer to home, our 2004 Gubernatorial election was marred by suspect ballot handling resulting in a margin of error far exceeding the margin of victory, ending in a five month court battle.

November's election may not bode much better. It very well could be a tight race amid unprecedented turnout in new battleground states that haven't seen the level of scrutiny experienced by the Florida's or the Ohio's. This talk will examine these issues across several battleground states and take a stab at where the amassing armies of attorneys may do battle. As the memorable technologist (played by Samuel Jackson) said in Jurassic Park before the dinosaurs ran amok -- "hold on to your butts."

Urban Leadership Series
A new breakfast event where Technology, Business and the City meet! This series was created as a unique forum for the technology community, business owners, corporate and government officials to connect over hot topics and common issues that are happening in the Puget Sound region. The Urban Leadership Series will feature some of today’s most dynamic technology and business leaders, as well as government officials who will share their insights on the present and the future of technology, economic, policy, and environmental trends and issues that we need to be aware of in order to prosper in this technological and global economy that we live in today. Not only will this insight be presented from a leader in the community, but there will also be an opportunity for open discussion on these topics with attendees.
