Wiki Wednesday is a party with a featured speaker or discussion topic, related to wikis. We get together to chat, learn about wikis, find jobs, talk deals, and hang out. People who participated in the all-day Wikithon (a wiki hackathon) can show off their cool hacks. Anyone else is welcome to give a brief demo or lightning talk. Socialtext and co-hosts will provide the space and food for the party.

Our featured speaker for August will be Yoz Grahame speaking on "Folk Logic".

Talk summary:
Wikis take the living library of the Web and, in pulling it into a single shared space, kick it up a notch. What wikis do for collaborative writing, folk logic platforms do for code. It's the reason Second Life has a hundred new features every day. Social spaces that allow their users to code incubate the birth of remarkable new forms of digital life. But you can get some of their benefits with more traditional wikis too - because wikis aren't just about text.

Bio:
Yoz Grahame is an incurable sociali[ser|te|st] and serial startup addict. He's currently attempting to put down more permanent roots at Linden Lab, the creators of Second Life, where he manages internal web and tools projects. Before that, he dallied at Ning, Sparza and Douglas Adams's h2g2. He's been fascinated by the spontaneous creative activities of internet crowds since he first logged onto LambdaMOO in 1993. He left his adenoids in London and his heart in San Francisco. He likes cake more than is healthy. You can find him at http://yoz.com/ .
