"Why Hitler Rose, Enron Failed, And My Sister Stole My Mother's Boyfriend!"

Professor Barbara Oakley from Oakland University, Michigan, will present her book "Evil Genes", about the causes of Borderline, Sociopathic and Psychopathic Personality Disorders. It will be a surprisingly fun talk about this dark, scientific subject.

Dr. Oakley has worked hard to help build a public understanding of the bioengineering profession. Her research work involves investigations of the complex relationship between neurocircuitry and social behavior - why 'bad people' do what they do. Barbara Oakley has an eclectic background: among many adventures, she worked for several years as a Russian translator on Soviet trawlers in the Bering Sea during the height of the Cold War; she met her husband while working as a radio operator at the South Pole station in Antarctica; and she was promoted from private to regular Captain in the U.S. Army.

In the Faulkner Gallery, Central Public Library, 40 East Anapamu Street, downtown Santa Barbara. $2 student or $5 general donation would be appreciated by the Humanist Society of Santa Barbara.
