White Wizzard plays classic and contemporary rock as well as metal. Year of the Serpent formed in mid-2007 as a trio consisting of E. Matthew McCauley on guitar, Tim Johnston on bass, and Ben Peters on drums. Carl Granquist was added soon after as lead guitarist. The band endured a series of false starts and a lengthy singer search before deciding that McCauley would assume lead vocal duties.
