New York-based choreographer Doug Elkins created Fräulein Maria after countless viewings of the movie classic The Sound of Music by Rodgers and Hammerstein. Set to the complete score of the film, Fräulein Maria premiered at Joe's Pub at New York City's Public Theater in 2006, and has gone on to delight audiences around the country with its marvelous deconstruction of one of the most beloved musicals in Broadway history. Ballet, hip-hop, voguing, stepping, stomping, twirling—these moves and many more appear in Elkins' high-spirited, gender-bending and wonderfully joyful Fräulein Maria. Presented in cooperation with the Rodgers & Hammerstein Organization.
