WHISKEY BARS
A Kabarett with songs by Kurt Weill

International singing-acting sensation Canadian Bremner Duthie is thrilled to be returning to Toronto with his multiple award-winning Fringe hit Whiskey Bars. This incredible one-man show, written and performed by Duthie and featuring a selection of songs by the extraordinary Kurt Weill, runs from Tuesday, January 19th to Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010 at the Bread and Circus.

In a dank dressing room sits a faded cabaret singer preparing for his do-or-die performance. Joined by the only critic to show up, he tries every trick he knows to win a good review – lies, seduction, charm, anger and outright begging – and in the process reveals more than he expects. Whiskey Bars is a strikingly original, unpredictable story of a singer’s final comeback, fuelled by too many vodka martinis and Kurt Weill’s dark and daring song writing. It is a fast-paced fusion of reality, comedy and a touch of tragedy that has won awards everywhere it has played. Whether as an exciting and accessible introduction to this classic composer's songs or as a new look at old favourites, this one-man musical, with an innovative cabaret feel, offers audiences a riveting theatrical experience.
