Two young men from Bologna, Gianni, an upper middle class saxophone player, and Nick, a working class trombone player, meet at an audition in Umbria. Both have dreams of becoming professional musicians and form the Joy Spring Quintet together, which catapults Nick’s career as a musician, but Gianca believes his passion for music cannot make up for his lack of talent and abandons his musical ambitions. After several years, the two men reunite and together they compose a musical that becomes a special hit. This film is a winner of a 2005 David di Donatello award.
