Join WFYI Public Media for its PBS KIDS in the Park festival on Saturday, June 9, 2012. This one-of-a-kind, free family celebration takes place in a beautiful downtown park setting that is surrounded by some of Indianapolis' leading cultural organizations. Shock, of The Electric Company, will headline this year's entertainment lineup. Described as a modern-day Buster Keaton, Shock teaches youngsters the basics of making music, sound effects and telling stories from the power of imagination. In addition, the day will be filled with non-stop entertainment on three stages, nearly two dozen interactive booths, an Olympic inflatable zone, meet & greet opportunities with 19 PBS KIDS characters, including Walkaround Elmo from Sesame Street and Mr. McFeely from Mister Roger's Neighborhood, an array of on-site food vendors and food trucks, plus much more. Opening ceremonies begin at 10 am with a colorful walking procession of PBS KIDS characters, clowns and local mascots through the festival venue. Families will want to arrive early to catch the parade, which will feature: The Cat in the Hat; Curious George; Clifford the Big Red Dog; SUPER WHY! and his co-stars Princess Presto, Alpha Pig & Wonder Red; WordGirl; Maya & Miguel; Digit from Cyberchase; Walkaround Elmo from Sesame Street; Buddy from Dinosaur Train; plus Peep and Quack from Peep and The Big Wide World; Mr. McFeely from Mister Roger's Neighborhood; Shock from The Electric Company and PBS KIDS' Dot and Dash.
