Western Music Recital by Kokila Gillett (Violin) & Pavel Timofejevsky (Piano). In collaboration with Time and Talents Club. Kokila Gillett was a foundation scholar at the Royal College of Music (RCM), studying for her degree under the tutorship of Dr. Felix Andrievsky. She commenced her violin studies at the age of six at the Junior Guildhall, where she won the 2001 Lutine Prize, and between 1997 and 2002, was a scholar at the Purcell School. She has had master classes with Lewis Kaplan, Levon Chilingirian and the LSO String Principals, reaching the semi-finals of the LSO Scholarship Competition 2002. Among the many prestigious prizes she has won, are the Isolde Menges Prize for the best performance of Solo Bach Prize at the RCM, with her rendition of the D Minor Chaconne; the First Prize in the Premiere Challenge Cup at the North London Festival, for her performance of Ravel's Tzigane and the 2008 Sir Henry Richardson Award as duo partner to Amy de Sybel. Pavel Timofejevsky, pianist and composer, graduated from the Royal Academy of Music (RAM) in 2006, whereafter he was invited to perform solo as part of the Shostakovich centenary festival. At RAM, he was awarded the John Ireland Prize, the Michael Head Prize for best accompanist, a special prize at the Jacques Samuels Piano Competition as well as a prize at the Beethoven Society Intercollegiate Competition. He has performed at notable London venues, such as the Royal Festival Hall and Queen Elizabeth Hall, and in Europe too. In 2008, he received the Fourth Prize at the 19th Haverhill Sinfonia Soloist International Competition, performed live on the SW1 Radio's Passport programme and was in a recital with a singer in Kolkata that was broadcast live on Indian television.
