HYANNIS - FEBRUARY 11, 2011 - Acoustic alternative and indie folk band Westerly Whales plays Friday, February 25th, 2011 at Embargo on Main St. in Hyannis. The show will be more family friendly than previous shows as it will start at 6pm and conclude by 10pm. Opening for Westerly Whales, who is fronted by Osterville singer/songwriter Andy Milk, will be Brendan Princi and Kyle Waaramaa. The show is part of Milk's own "Weightless Music Series", a collection of live music and DJ sets showcasing Cape Cod talent.

Westerly Whales is Milk's most recent band after THE VITAL MIGHT, an alternative indie rock band based in Boston and signed to Charleston, SC's 10t Records, a prominent progressive and experimental music record label. The band, which has showcased at several venues on the Cape and in Boston, features Milk on acoustic guitar and vocals, Hyannis' Jack Garrett on drums and vocals, Ben Healy on keys, and Alaska native Kevin Hanscom on upright bass. The band sites Iron & Wine, Fleet Foxes, Band of Horses, Bon Iver, and Jeff Buckley as influences. Westerly Whales will be releasing an EP of their material in Winter of 2011.

Brendan Princi, previously of Cape band Old Dog Moon, is a multi-talented singer-songwriter who left an advertising career to pursue music and has played all over the Cape and New England. Kyle Waaramaa, another notable local singer-songwriter, plays the acoustic guitar with lightning-fast fingers and sings like an indie crooner on his poignant original compositions.
