Wellsville Day of Drumming with Jim Donovan : Workshop and Concert November 14, 2009

Award winning teacher, performer and multi-platinum recording artist Jim Donovan returns to Wellsville, New York to host an interactive "Day of Drumming" featuring an interactive workshop and concert on Saturday November 14, 2009 at the Wellsville Creative Arts Center on 124 North Main Street in Wellsville.

His all new workshop titled "The Rhythm Renewal Drumming Workshop" will feature participants learning rhythms, songs, chants and concepts from Africa, Brazil and the Caribbean. Donovan provides a large selection of authentic West African drums called djembes for participants to use during the workshop.  Additional details about the workshop can be found at Donovan's website . Beginners are welcome. Ages 16 and up.

The evening concert is being billed as "The Night of 1000 Drums" and will be headlined by Donovan's world fusion/AfroGroove project "Drum the Ecstatic International". Along with Donovan on kit, the 7 piece band features the energetic Congolese vocalist/dancer Elie Kihonia, Ghanian master drummer Etse Nydedzor along with guitar, keys, bass and several percussionists.

The concert is all ages.
Both events usually sell out in advance an so advance reservations are strongly suggested.

In addition to Donovan on drum-kit, this seven piece group features the unstoppable energy of Congolese vocalist/dancer Elie Kihonia, Ghanian master drummer Etse Nydedzor along with remarkable guitar, keys, bass and more percussionists than usually can fit on the stage.
