Our deep inner nature is one of luminous understanding and expansive compassion. The tools of visualization and mindfulness put us in touch with these qualities. In this weekend of meditation we will practice two different but complementary forms of meditation: Medicine Buddha practice and Calm Abiding meditation.

We begin on Friday evening and end the weekend on Sunday morning with Medicine Buddha practice. By visualizing the healing compassion symbolized in the form of the Medicine Buddha we internalize awakened compassion and radiate healing to others.

Saturday will be devoted to Mindfulness meditation. Mindfulness practice dispels the root obstacles to wisdom and inner freedom that preceed compassion. Silence and the cultivation of sustained observation bring clarity and strength to our inner vision. Ordinary attention needs transformation in order to blossom into insight.

This retreat is for students who have some background in basic Buddhism. It is suitable for both new and established meditators. Students will bring a bagged lunch and we will eat together in a joyful silence on Saturday.
